skrevet 4 år sidenSorry you had a bad experience with this extension. The extension was definitely designed to persist tabs after computer shutdown. It uses `localStorage` (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Web_Storage_API) to save URLs for each tab. This is designed to "persist even when the browser is closed and reopened." This storage can be cleared through the browser settings or through another Javascript extension.
Feel free to file an issue (https://github.com/avbhatt/tabs/issues). If you include some more information with your issue I can try and replicate the issue on my end. - Bedømt til 1 ud af 5af Firefox-bruger 13212610, 5 år sidenThis extension failed me, just when I wanted to restore a bunch tabs, clicking on the Restore button does NOTHING. I can only assume that it "lost" my saved tab state, but there's no message if that is the trouble. So my search for a reliable means to save a complete browsing session continues, for sure Firefox itself is useless at that task.

skrevet 4 år sidenSorry that you lost your tabs. This extension uses `localStorage` (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Web_Storage_API) to save URLs for each tab. It is possible that this got cleared somehow. According to the linked docs, `localStorage`: "Stores data with no expiration date, and gets cleared only through JavaScript, or clearing the Browser cache / Locally Stored Data"
If you submit an issue (https://github.com/avbhatt/tabs/issues) with some more information about your Firefox configuration, especially any other extensions that you have installed that interact with `localStorage` I can try and replicate this problem on my end.
Another thing you can look for is the "Saved!" flash after clicking the "Save" button. This means that each tab has been successfully saved. For additional confirmation that tabs have been saved, try clicking "Restore" right after saving. This will open a window with a list of your tabs. - Bedømt til 5 ud af 5af strazydaze, 5 år sidenOmg, it Works!!! I am so pleased. I have tried several of these in Hopes that one might work okay. I am very pleasantly surprised.
After having read the reviews AND the responses from the dev, I decided that it was worth it to try just one more.
*seriously, what devs ever bother to read feedback anymore?*
It was a great decision!Svar fra udvikleren
skrevet 5 år sidenWow, I really appreciate this. Thanks for reviewing. I'm glad it's meeting your needs. Please let me know either here or on GitHub (https://github.com/avbhatt/tabs/issues) if there is any issue or other feature requests you might have. - Bedømt til 5 ud af 5af Firefox-bruger 12267460, 5 år sidenThis is a great tool for me to quickly open the set of tabs for sites I read every day.
One thing that would make it a ton better for me would be if we could get separate toolbar buttons for "save," "restore," and "restore all," especially the latter.Svar fra udvikleren
skrevet 5 år sidenThanks for the review! I haven't experimented with one extension having multiple toolbar buttons, but I'll look into it for sure. - Bedømt til 1 ud af 5af derdritte, 5 år sidenThis addon appears to save all open tabs and then allows you to select them by url to reopen them. I currently have 8 firefox-windows open and it saves the tabs of all windows.
Sadly, for my use-case of essentially saving a "window's worth" of tabs to get back to later, it is completely useless. On my firefox it also had graphics-glitches which is amazing since it's literally a list with "checkboxes" (they are really tiny buttons) and two buttons to save and "restore".
Edit 13.07.2019:
I have tried the extension again, and the buttons for saving/restoring did not render in properly, I had to focus any part of the extension (using a keyboard or clicking blind) to make it render. Functionality was non-existent or at least there was no feedback when I clicked on the save button.Svar fra udvikleren
skrevet 5 år sidenThanks for the feedback! Your use case of saving a window's worth of tabs makes a lot of sense. In the new update of this extension, tabs are grouped by what window they were in and you have the option of restoring to your active window or a brand new window. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the update if you get a chance. Thanks again for the review.
Edit:
I really appreciate you taking the time to try this extension again. I can't seem to replicate the problem of improper rendering on my machine. If you have time, please file an issue (https://github.com/avbhatt/tabs/issues) with your Firefox configuration. In terms of "Save" feedback, there should be a flash to "Saved!" after clicking. - Bedømt til 3 ud af 5af KT, 5 år sidenLooks like it might be working but I am scared to close it in case it did not save. There is no verification that it did save all the tabs. I have 99 tabs open and don't want to lose them. Thanks. Needs more visual confirmation in this addon.

skrevet 5 år sidenThanks for your review! Visual confirmation is a great idea, in the new update of this extension I added some feedback on clicking the "Save" button. Just in case you need to confirm, clicking the restore button will show the list of saved tabs. - Bedømt til 3 ud af 5af PERCE-NEIGE, 5 år sidenOk, but please, add favicons. It's easier to identify the tab content, and it's more aesthetical.

skrevet 5 år sidenThanks for the review! I hear you about the favicons, but I haven't figured out a consistent way to grab them from websites (not all websites have them at /favicon.ico). If you have any ideas, please share them with me here or on github.
I have tried making the extension more aesthetically pleasing in other areas and would love to hear what you think about the new changes.
- Bedømt til 3 ud af 5af Jgr9, 6 år sidenEither the new "Multi-Window Support" is bugged or it's annoying. I frequently find a new window being opened up when I restore my tabs, even though that window's page is not in the list, nor was it open when I saved. Maybe this happens when multiple windows had previously existed (but don't anymore while being saved), but I don't know.
Also, if there's some possible way for you to replace or return a form of the warning box on close that Firefox has now partially removed, where it asks you if you want to save the tabs or not, and have them restore on launch if you did (but not if you didn't), then that would be great.
Response to Dev: Well, since you have to have it open to restore, restoring to a new window while just your homepage is open is kind of annoying.Svar fra udvikleren
skrevet 6 år sidenThanks for the review! I will look into what is causing the new window to open up, potentially the list is not being cleared properly on save. The extension is designed to save links from all open tabs of all non-private windows into the list. When "Restore All" is clicked, the saved links are restored in newly created windows.
For example, if when you hit save you had the following windows/tabs:
- Window 1: Tab A, B, C
- Window 2: Tab D, E, F
After closing and reopening your browser you already have one window open and potentially multiple tabs. Clicking "Restore All" will result in the following:
- Window 1: Tab X, Y, Z, ... [This is the state of your current window; it should be unchanged from before clicking "Restore All"
- Window 2: Tab A, B, C
- Window 3: Tab D, E, F
Do you think this is a good way to tackle preserving Window organization? Other options include appending the tabs of the first saved window (A, B, C) to the current window and only creating a new window for the subsequent saved windows.
Please submit a github issue with steps to reproduce this bug if you can: https://github.com/avbhatt/tabs/issues
I think your idea to prompt to save tabs on close is great. I will look into that for sure. In an effort to make this extension as non-intrusive as possible I may have to include some sort of options page to configure this. If you would like to submit a feature request, please do so on the same github issues page: https://github.com/avbhatt/tabs/issues
Again, thank you for the feedback. I truly appreciate it. - Bedømt til 5 ud af 5af sealj553, 6 år sidenThis is quite simple and no nonsense. All the other tab session addons look horrible, are bloated, or barely work.
One thing that could be improved would be to be able to save the tabs from all open windows. I won't deduct a star because it works so nicely otherwise.Svar fra udvikleren
skrevet 6 år sidenThanks for reviewing, I really appreciate the feedback. I will try to add the option to save from all windows as soon as I can.
Would you like the tabs to be restored to the window they were saved from, or for all of the tabs to be restored to a single window?
